System Transformation is Possible: Lessons from Québec
How can a community movement challenge school segregation and help build a fairer school system?
In Schools for All Australia’s first public webinar, recorded on 27 August 2026, Stéphane Vigneault explains how Québec’s school system separates students across subsidised private, selective public and comprehensive public schools. He shares how École Ensemble grew from a group of concerned parents into a movement that has brought school segregation into public debate and developed a proposal for a socially mixed common school network.
Stéphane is joined by former NSW Education Minister Adrian Piccoli and Finnish educator and author Professor Pasi Sahlberg. Together, they explore what Québec’s experience could mean for Australia, including the roles of school funding, enrolment policies and community advocacy in creating a more equitable system.
The webinar also introduces Schools for All Australia’s vision: every child, in every school, with every opportunity to thrive.
